FUNCTIONAL CHRONIC PAIN MANAGEMENT
Our Mission
The Functional Chronic Pain Management Program (FCPM) is an interdisciplinary approach to treating individuals experiencing chronic, nonmalignant pain. It is outcomes based and designed to maximize functional gains, to allow patients to resume normal activities, and to help them cope with their pain.
Who Will Benefit?
Anyone who has had significant pain for more than three months is a good candidate for the program, as are patients who are experiencing reductions in work, household or leisure activities due to pain.
The FCPM program has achieved good results for:
- Low back pain
- Neck pain
- Extremity pain
- Peripheral Neuropathy
- Work related injuries
- Personal injury or accident
- Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS I and II)
- Post surgical pain
- Patients whose pain continues despite medication, injections or therapy
Elements of the Program - a Team Approach
FCPM is a comprehensive, outpatient rehabilitation program. The objective is always to maximize functional gains. Getting as close as possible to the prior level of daily activity, including return to work where appropriate, is always our goal.
Treatment includes medical management, individual psychotherapy, physical conditioning, biofeedback, relaxation training, and pain management education. Patients learn how to manage any residual pain, regain their health, and reach their personal goals.
The program has three main elements.

- Psychological screening
- Pre-admission conference and program orientation

- Lifestyle and occupational changes
- Overall goal is to reduce the need for frequent medical interventions
